Sailing home to Exmouth

On 23rd September the Exe Estuary Management Partnership joined forces with the LiCCo project and the Environment Agency to organise an Exe Estuary Forum with a difference. Entitled “A Changing Coast” the free event, attended by over 50 local people was onboard Stuart Lines’ boat ‘the Pride of Exmouth’ as she sailed around the calm, sunlit waters of the Exe Estuary.

The event featured key note speeches from Dr Stuart Barr, from the University of Exeter and Dr Erika Palin from the Met Office, covering climate projections, local hazards and how communities can work together to identify why they are flooding and what they can do to  increase their flood resilience. Jane Lavick, (Exe Estuary Principal Engagement Officer)  highlighted the key local achievements of the LiCCo project over the last 3 years. The new draft State of the Exe report was also discussed, which gives factual information on the environmental quality of the area and will be available shortly from the Exe Estuary Management Partnership website.

Presentations from the evening are available here:-
